A Good Sign for Malvern Borough (Literally)
Local businesses sponsored installation of a new sign along Route 30.

Have you noticed the new "Welcome to Malvern" sign located between Lancaster Avenue and East King Road?
It just went up last week, but the Malvern Business and Professional Association has been trying to put a sign there for years. Willistown Township had to give the green light, since it is on township property.

Created by Chester County Signs and Graphics, the cost of the sign was split between the MBPA and its counterpart in Paoli, the PBPA. Accordingly the sign bears a different message for motorists approaching from the west—"Welcome to Paoli."
The two neighboring business groups have joint meetings throughout the year, including a mixer this Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Redhound Grille. MBPA secretary Katie Broomall supplied the details in an email:
Our kick off meeting is this Wednesday 9/12/12 at 6pm Redhound Grille. We would love for new businesses to come out and join us, however they need to RSVP to me.

Thank God people will finally know whether they are coming or going to Malvern & Paoli. It has stymied the best of explorers for eons! Actually, it is a demographic not geographic designation. Should say Welcome to the Greentree portion of a Willistown Precinct in Malvern; Welcome a few yards ahead to Paoli Village in Tredyffrin Township -- this area has confused even the best of GPS systems for centuries (i.e., the Paoli Battlegrounds in Malvern Boro!). When Billy Penn and I laid out the road system back in the day, we never anticipated the confusion generated by Route 30, Lancaster Pike, Lincoln Highway, Lancaster Avenue nomenclatures for the same strip of road! Heck. I am old enough to remember when that portion of King Road was unpaved after you passed Tendler Lane all the way out to 30! And the Great American Pub was a police barracks! Boy am I old!!
