Blotter: Stolen Car, Stolen Lights, Broken Bottles
A Mercedes SUV went missing from a local garage last week.
Editor's note: The police blotter did not run for a few weeks, but this edition has incidents from that time. Arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Public Drunkeness… Police cited a 26-year-old Malvern man with public drunkenness around 10:44 p.m. on Dec. 14 near the intersection of Woodland and Roberts avenues. Police had previously transported the man to his home after being called to a dispute in which he was involved earlier that night.
Public drunk… On Dec. 14 at 10:21 p.m., a 51-year-old West Chester resident was cited for public drunkeness after yelling obscenities at a police officer near the parking lot of the Malvern train station. The man was unsteady on his feet with bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. His wife picked him up.
Theft… On Dec. 17, a homeowner reported that someone had stolen Christmas lights from the bushes in front of their house on Raffaela Drive.
DUI… On Dec. 17, an officer stationed in Malvern Shopping Center observed a Camry fail to stop at the intersection of King Street and Powelton Avenue just before midnight. The driver, a 44-year-old borough resident, smelled like alcohol and had a small bottle of vodka in his jacket pocket and beers in the car. He was charged with DUI, taken to Paoli Hospital for blood testing and released to his mother.
Assault… On Jan. 15, around 10:30 a.m., police arrested a 33-year-old man for simple assault at his home on the 100 block of West King Street. His roommate said the man had punched him on multiple occasions. He was arraigned before Judge Darlington and bail was set at $5,000 cash.
Disorderly conduct… On Jan 18, around 1:20 a.m., an officer observed a 24-year-old Philadelphia man walking down King Street. The man finished a beverage and threw the glass bottle into the parking lot next to Malvern Pizza, where it shattered. He was charged with disorderly conduct and asked to clean up the broken glass.
Vehicle theft… On Jan. 17, around 11 p.m., police received a report that a Mercedes Benz ML320 was missing from Gallagher's Auto Service. The vehicle was at the business for repairs, and the owner confirmed he had not removed the vehicle. Police are investigating a report that the car was found in Camden, NJ.
