Car Lot Could Replace Route 30 Takeout Steakhouse

Willistown's zoning board will consider a request to turn the property into a used car lot.

A used car dealer is looking to open a business at the former location of Rocco's Steaks on Lancaster Avenue, in the Paoli section of Willistown.

From the Nov. 13 Willistown Supervisors meeting agenda:

The Willistown Township Zoning Hearing Board will meet on Wednesday, November 28 that 7:30 PM to hear the application of Circlewood GP, LLC, in which the Applicant seeks special exceptions to permit a used car sales business on the property located at 233 West Lancaster Avenue.

The drive-through and takeout-only steak shop has been closed since at least 2011.

Oh, no! Not the original Dairy Queen from the 1950's? The Mecca of my childhood! "With a B and a By and a Bo and a Bop -- sure, that's Dairy Queen with a curl on top!" -- can still remember that jingle and the Boston shakes and the Dilly Bars and the cones that contributed to the sturdy girth of my thighs over the years! And isn't there going to be a car dealership up at the site of the movie theater in Frazer? The economy mustn't be as bad as they've led us to believe!!!!

Dairy Queen, Polish Water Ice, Tradewinds coffee, Roccos steaks...it's gone through quite a few changez over the decades. Tradewinds was my favodrite---the kids that ran were real artistians. Sorry to see it devolve into a used car lot. That's not going to enhance the ambience or the vitality of West Paoli.

Sad. Its a tough location size along with bad exit and entry. Not sure what else would survive based on past performance.
