At Willistown's annual police awards ceremony Monday night, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan praised the township's officers and administration, calling them one of the best law enforcement organization's he's seen.

Hogan, a Willistown resident who was elected in November 2011, said he hoped to make the rest of the county as safe as the township.

"If I could achieve that goal, this would be the best county in the world, the safest county in the world to live in," he said.

In his remarks, he praised the department's ability to to perform community policing and also handle major crimes, citing an example of each. The first was a personal anecdote:

"My father-in-law was down for Thanksgiving, tripped, fell and broke his hip. Two Willistown police officers were there like that," Hogan said with a snap of his fingers, "to help him, to get him into the ambulance."

He then pivoted to the recent robbery of a TD Bank in Paoli, praising the department's quick response and arrest of a suspect. The defense attorney, he said, had indicated the alleged robber would plead guilty.

"There's too much evidence in the case. We've already nailed him to the wall," Hogan said.

No mention of the many award recipients? Whatsoever? THEY are why Mr. Hogan was there in the first place...right?

Oh, he wasn't there to do any politically-motivated firings? Good to see he's taking a break from that.

The Willistown police are fantastic. Always there when you need them, always polite, and always reasonable. We are lucky to have such a great group protecting our township. The police departments of surrounding townships could learn a thing or two (or more) from Willistown's Finest!
