A Willistown reader sent in this photo of an unusual animal print in her yard, with her size-8 foot next to it for comparison.

Update 2/19/13 9pm: Willistown Police received word from the state game commission that the print belongs to a "large domestic animal, such as a dog." So that settles that.

Original story continues below.

A Willistown resident sent in the above photograph of an unusual animal track she found in her yard off Hillview Road.

Luisa Melo, who discovered the print, wondered if it might be from a bear or coyote, or another type of animal, and said she's found unusual droppings in her yard lately too.

Willistown Police photographed the print and sent the photo to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, she said.

It's a dog print. Most likely from a large breed.

I have noticed quite a few cougars prowling through the Paoli Shopping Center. I'd suggest it's probably one of those cougars.

Well, it was over here at Sugartown Elementary this week. My Husband was walking our Rottie and came home and asked me if I knew what it might be.

I don't think a bear, they have five toes. Probably a large dog, coyote or cougar.

I looked at a pawprint guide... A big dog/Coyote/bobcat all look similiar but the dimensions in the guide were a LOT smaller for the coyote and bobcat than the one in the photo.

Might be a Large Dog, or minght not be an animal print at all; not a deer or bear, , not bobcat, too big, looks too big for cougar or wild animal.

Rain and weather might have distorted the size and print.

Done A Lot of Mountain Hunting, thats my guess!

The one I saw was in the snow, but it was on top of the snow. My rottie paws crashed right thru the remaining snow. I thought it was two sets one small one about 2 inches in diameter, at least that is my best guess. They were just in one spot, in a haphazard pattern, maybe trying to catch something. No tracks in or out. I thought it might be a gray fox. I have seen them In the area.

Bobcat and cougar would not leave claw marks. Large dog most likely.

Looks to me like several deer prints stomped on top of one another.

A coyote print will be much smaller than a large dog. There are a TON of large breed dogs in Willistown Township and some people...ahem...think that letting they dogs roam is just fine.
