After skimming this it doesn't appear to be related but I enjoyed learning about it none the less.

I know there was a plane crash (and fatality) on May 1, 1954 or 56 off Flowing Springs Road and Sawmill Lane in West Vincent Township; a friend, who was 12 at the time, was there and has slides of the scene. There was also an article in The Pottstown Mercury about it (we found it on microfilm). A guy from New York City was returning home from Florida, the weather was foggy and he went down in the woods; plane burst into flames; ambulance came and got him to the hospital but he died shortly after arriving.

I don't have any real information but i grew on on miner street (the circle)in the 50's-late 60's and we used to hear that there was a crashed plane in the woods behind our house and we weren't allowed very far back..and when i got older i realized it wasn't the dense jungle we perceived back there at all but to us it was scary..but i swear a pack of us went back there one day and someone pointed out a piece of rubble and said this is from a wrecked plane..again i have no idea if this was real or not but maybe someone else that lived up on the hill heard it too..not too many originals still up there tho if any

I have heard that the area south of Paoli Pike west of Warren Avenue was an airport prior to the early 50s when the neighborhood that exists now was built. Could this be where the plane crash mentioned occurred?

In the woods to the east of what is Miner Street Circle there was a small plane (Piper or Cessna) with Civil Defense markings which probably went down in World War II. It crashed into trees and was in bad shape. Kids could climb in the cockpit and move a couple flaps. In the shadow of WWII and Korea kids could play an early 50's version of war games (we always won). I think the engine had been removed because if we had been able to turn it over I'm sure I would remember that. Those of us who lived on Old Lincoln Hwy, Broad St, etc. had a lot of fun back there. I am guessing that the Miner Street extension went in about 1950-52. Back then the woods went from Villa Maria all the way to the bend in Old Lincoln Hwy down to Lincoln Highway, business Route 30. There were 1 or 2 old houses on Lincoln Hwy between Villa Maria and Old Lincoln Hwy but nothing but trees everywhere else. Great for kids.

I lived on East Broad St. from 1946-till 1964...Down the street from Jim Mcerlane..He was a little older than I..but..my sister and friends used to do the same thing..go up to those woods near Miner Hill and saw the plane and played war and all that was a lot of fun also..we used to pretend it was plane from the war..So, the plane was a civil defense plane..Ineresting to know that..Those were the days of innocent fun..Eileen Hudson..St. Augustine,Fla.
