East Whiteland Firefighters Help Firefighters in NY
Local volunteers helped firefighters based hurt by Hurricane Sandy.
Volunteers from East Whiteland Fire Company joined with several nearby fire companies in a trip to hurricane-ravaged New York last on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The trip was through an organization called Firefighters Helping Firefighters:
Our mission is to aid and assist New Jersey’s career and volunteer firefighters and their families, when they become sick, injured, or experience personal loss.
In addition to donating their time and labor to help rebuild after the hurricane, East Whiteland Fire Company donated thousands of dollars in gift cards to Home Depot, according to Fire Chief Ken Hurley. And Home Depot donated supplies like contractor bags, dust masks, handwarmers and mops.
Other participating volunteers came from nearby fire companies in Broomall, Phoenixville, Lioneville and Honeybrook.
