East Whiteland Lieutenant to Replace Malvern Police Chief

Malvern Borough Council confirms Chief Michael McMahon will leave the department, East Whiteland supervisors vote to approve contracting out Lt. Mark Ercole as interim Chief.

East Whiteland Police Lieutenant Mark Ercole will take over as interim Chief of Police in Malvern Borough, according to a statement issued by the Borough Council.

At a special meeting Tuesday, the East Whiteland Board of Supervisors voted to approve a contract to provide chief of police services to Malvern Borough, effective immediately.

After the 2-0 vote approving the contract, Lt. Ercole hurried out the door to Malvern Borough to meet with officers from his new department.

Ercole will serve as interim chief, with a one-year contract, during which time Malvern Borough will reimburse East Whiteland Township for his salary and attendant benefits. He has been with the East Whiteland Police for 26 years, serving as lieutenant for the past four.
