Barbara Nissel, who directs Great Valley School District's food services operation, will retire in January. Her resignation will be one of the personnel items up for approval at the Oct. 22 school board meeting.

GVSD Business Director Chuck Linderman said Nissel will be difficult to replace.

"[Nissel] took our program from the typical 1960’s looking school lunch to one of the best programs in the country," Linderman wrote in an email.

In addition to working in the district, Nissel runs School Operation Services Group with GVSD Buildings and Grounds supervisor Rich Krumrine.
