The District announced in a letter to parents on Aug. 30 that Kay Sweet will serve as the interim principal at K.D. Markley Elementary School until a permanent principal is named. Sweet is not a new face in Great Valley. In past years, she worked at K.D. Markley, General Wayne, and Charlestown Elementary Schools as interim principal. A retired school administrator, Sweet previously served as an elementary principal in the Upper Darby School District. She also worked as a language arts and social studies supervisor in the Upper Darby School District. 

Sweet is a graduate of Duchesne College. She earned her MS in education and her administrative certification from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is a past panel member of the National Endowment for the Humanities and a past co-director of the Pennsylvania Writing Project.
