PlanPhilly: SEPTA Approves $7.5M for Paoli Train Station
The board approved about $7.5 million for design of a new rail station.
At a Jan. 26 meeting, the SEPTA Board took a big step forward in the Paoli Rail Yard project, according to PlanPhilly.com's Anthony Campisi. The decision to approve a large design contract for the project came late in the meeting, after a series of contract approvals for Center City projects.
The board also approved a nearly $7.5 million contract to Gannett Fleming Inc. for design of a new Paoli regional rail station. Long a priority of [Tredyffrin] Township, the Chester County municipality where the station is located, the current plan would involve building a new station 80 feet west of the current location that better connects with SEPTA and private buses and involves a reworking of a nearby Amtrak interlocking, as well as the installation of high-level platforms.
State Rep. Warren Kampf relayed the news on his Facebook page.

80 feet to the west...That should put it somewhere around Mathews Ford area. How long do they think it will take to finish it? Paoli station has been at this location for a very long time this will take a bit of getting use to...

Sadly the new station is still years away-this contract will be just the "design". No funds allocated to construction....Paoli Station is not being maintained anticipating replacement and it sure looks it! Looking forward to a new station where the platform is level with the train-as I age, those 3 steps up into the train seem to get taller!
