Blotter: Drunk at the Fair, Pepsi Thief

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary… On July 10, police arrested a 48-year-old man for burglary after he broke into the home of his ex-wife and took two cans of Pepsi from the refrigerator. The ex-wife's boyfriend, who also lives at the residence, returned to the home around 3:30 p.m. to find the man leaving. The alleged burglar told police he had come to the home looking for a game for his daughter. The soda was valued at $3.

Underage drinking… On July 10, around 9:30 p.m., two juveniles were charged with underage drinking. Officers patroling the Malvern Fire Company Fair spotted the boys, ages 15 and 17, at the back of the field near the woods. The boys appeared intoxicated, according to police, and the 15-year-old had wet himself and had vomit on his clothes. He was taken to Paoli Hospital.

DUI… On July 10, at 8:39 p.m., a patrol officer pulled over a vehicle on the 600 block of West King Street after observing the driver drifting repeatedly into the oncoming lane. The driver, a 39-year-old Malvern resident, claimed to have had one beer, but failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence. He was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests.

Theft… On July 12, a resident of the 100 block of Church Street reported that five red folding chairs had been stolen from the corner of his yard. The resident had himself taken more than five of the chairs out of a trash bin at Saint Patrick church. The chairs are valued at $5 each, and the resident reportedly erected a sign in his yard castigating the alleged thief.

I heard from a source at the hospital that it wasn't alcohol but acid that these kids were on.....

The "acid" incident was 3 boys ( I was told around age 18) who landed on my street after taking the acid & becoming disoriented in their car while driving on King Street in Willistown Twp. It was a very upsetting situation.

And we all thought that Sheriff Andy of Mayberry was dead. $3 worth of Pepsi and recycled lawn chairs being recycled once more! High crimes and misdemeanors in beautiful downtown Malvern! It's a wonder that the borough policemen don't die of boredom when not otherwise waiting for folks to drift through the omnipresent stopsigns on every corner! And a "source from the hospital" divulging patient information? Highly unlikely! As a former PMH'er, we held to the rules of HIPPA HIPPA HIPPA very assiduously! Oh, sleepy, quiet, little town of Malvern, where have you gone?????????

How are 2 cans of Pepsi valued at $3? No wonder the "street value" of drugs are inflated.
