School Board to Recognize Exceptional Students
They will be honored with other exceptional students at the school board meeting Monday night.
The Great Valley School Board will recognize students who earned perfect scores on standardized tests, made Eagle Scout rank and achieved other honors.
The following information about the students and faculty to be recognized comes from the meeting agenda on Board Docs:
Perfect SATs, ACTs
Ten GVHS students scored a perfect score on the listed part(s) of the SAT or ACT. A perfect score for the SAT is 800; a perfect score for the ACT is 36.

Musical accomplishments
Ten GVHS students were selected to perform in District Chorus, Orchestra, and Band.
The GVHS students selected for District Chorus are: Amanda Allred (11th), Rachel Cowgill (11th), Kristen DiGioia (12th), Charlie Gallagher (10th), Krystal Hipkins (12th), Abby Kennedy (12th), Cailin Orlowski (11th), Rachel Schuck (12th), and Kristyn Stickley (12th).
The GVHS students selected for District Band are: Rachel Schuck (12th) and Delia Li (10th). Delia Li was also selected for District Orchestra and invited to compete in Regional Orchestra.
Brooke Abrahams, CT Music Teacher, was selected as one of six teachers to participate in the 2012-2013 Philadelphia Orchestra School Concert Collaborative Group.
Eagle Scout rank
Seniors Bradley Bene, Daniel Dudt, and Alex Krause attained the rank of Eagle Scout. The scouts are members of Troop 78.
Poster recognition
Marley McDonough and Catherine Morgan, third grade students at General Wayne Elementary School, received Honorable Mention for their entries in the 2012 Stand Up for Education Poster Contest, sponsored by Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA).
Holiday card
Madeline Roach (11th) - Design selected as the artwork for the 2012 district holiday card.
Morgan Greathouse (10th) - Poem selected as the verse for the 2012 district holiday card.
Future City
Five 8th grade students received a special award in the 2013 Philadelphia Future City Competition. Their city, Vitanizio (Vee-tan-Nee-Zee-Oh), received the Innovation in Healthcare award. The students are: Anna Brown, Divya Jain, Michael Rivera, Matthew Vinca, and Mahika Inaganti.
In addition, The team's mentor and GVSD graduate, Kate Childers, was recognized as the 2013 Future City Outstanding Alumni.
The Future City Competition is a national, project-based learning experience where students in grades 6, 7, and 8 imagine, design, and build cities of the future. Students work as a team with an educator and engineer mentor to plan cities using SimCity™ 4 Deluxe software; research and write solutions to an engineering problem; build tabletop scale models with recycled materials; and present their ideas before judges at Regional Competitions.
