What would you like to see in the big retail space in the Great Valley Center, where a doggy daycare once existed?
What would you like to see move into the large property in the Great Valley Center at Routes 30 and 401? It was formerly a canine care center.

Now that Canine Creature Comforts has settled into its new doghouse on Lancaster Avenue, there's a vacancy in the Great Valley Center located at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue (Route 30) and Conestoga Road (Route 401).
What would you like to see take this large space in this space in Frazer's Great Valley Center? Tell us in the comments.
The shopping center has an eclectic group of businesses already—an Asian market, a pizza place, a vegan restaurant, a movie store, a sewing shop, a pharmacy and more.

That shopping center has been an eye sore since I was going there as a kid 25 years ago. If they're not going to step up the facade then it needs something like an Iron Hill Brewery that can play into the 'brick' look, and at least be contemporary.

Iron Hill—a fine suggestion. McKenzie seems to do pretty well as a brew-pub just up the road.
As for the condition of the center... the parking lot leaves a little something to be desired. But I find myself saying that about pretty much all shopping centers lately. Maybe it's just that vehicles are getting bigger.

How 'bout tearing the whole thing up and turning it into a park? Do we really need another store or restaurant? Lord knows we have enough retail in E. Whiteland!!

They'll probably put another bank in there. We only have nine banks in a half mile radius of that shopping center. The banks are getting out of hand, do we really need that many.

Is it too small for a Trader Joe's? I remember the anticipation of the Shop'nBag when it was being built...we peeked in the windows before it opened. I was about 8 and it looked so big and new with the "Dairy", "Meat" and other graphics on the walls. Up til then we shopped at the Berwyn Acme...for the items the Sunny Slope Milkman could not supply!

We can thank the vision of the Morelli Brothers for introducing the 401 Center to us back in the '60s/'70s. It was innovative in its day. And yes, it is pretty sad, dated and has an awkward set up re: the internal "mall." But please not an over-priced farmers' market like the one down the Main Line in Devon; paying more for items that could be found at Wegmans and Giant doesn't interest me or my wallet in the least! (Of course I'm old enough to remember Brackbill's Market on the "highway" which sat just west if the TD Bank.) I am surprised that WaWa hasn't made an offer, considering they seem to thrive no matter how close they are to each other! I bet there's a market for a Chuck-E-Cheese type of scenario with the prolification of little ones in our area. I'd personally like to see a Thurs-to-Sunday non-alcoholic/BYOB dance club, where old geezers like myself could trip the light fantastic and tempt a broken hip while doing the cha-cha; renting it out for birthday parties, dance lessons & kiddie events during the week. (And I still have one of those Sears' "scratch and dent" bureaus from way back when that is still serving its purpose after 43 years!!!!) :-)

Brackbills! Wow i had forgotten about it...that was a great country market. I can remember a tall older man, Mr. Brackbill??, opening the heavy wooden door to the cooler room and coming back with whatever you'd ordered. Later it was a fabric store and the pattern room was the old cooler if i remember right. Then it was Cottage Crafts and then it was gone.....off topic i know i know but a great memory Regina! Also agree that for its time(the 60's) GV Center was a BIG deal --to have a modern supermarket.... The Camera Shop is still the original family ownership--Pat does great custom photo printing and restoration.
