Updated: WEGO Requests EWPD Chief Stay Into 2013

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Commission wants East Whiteland Police Chief Eugene Dooley to extend his contract as interim chief there.

Update 12/13/1:45pm—The East Whiteland Board of Supervisors approved the contract extension with WEGO. Chief Eugene Dooley will continue to split his time between East Whiteland and WEGO police departments through June 2013.

At its Wednesday night meeting, the East Whiteland Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to extend a police services contract with the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Commission.

In September, the supervisors agreed to let East Whiteland Police Chief Eugene Dooley serve as interim chief of the WEGO department on a part-time basis. 

"The contract between WEGO and EWT for the services of Chief Gene Dooley is set to expire at the end of 2012.  WEGO is asking to extend the contract through June 2013," East Whiteland Township Supervisor Terry Woodman said in an email.

The WEGO police force was at risk of disbanding at the time the original contract was struck, but has since been renewed through 2018.
