WPD is implementing several new programs at our elementary schools. We look forward to spending time with our young resident scholars!
In a letter to parents Friday, General Wayne Elementary principal Bonnie Citron explained the role the police officers will play in the school:
Finally, as I have shared at our January PTO meeting, I have been working closely with the Willistown Police Department in an effort to reestablish our partnership. Some of the ideas we have discussed and have begun implementing are establishing an increased police presence in our school.
Our hope is that the students will get to know the Police Officers in our community and become accustom to seeing them in our building. Willistown Police Officers have already assisted me during bus dismissal, both in the back, at the bus lot and in the main office area sending the students home from the cafeteria. You may also see them eating lunch with the students or in the lobby area to greet or send off our students.
There will be additional opportunities that we are in the process of establishing; such as a “monthly lunch with an officer”, and a Forensic Kids afterschool program. We are thankful and appreciative for our officer’s time and caring for our children and our community.
