The Emmy-nominated show for entrepreneurs is holding a casting call in Philadelphia Saturday.
A nationwide talent search for the fifth season of the entrepreneurship reality series Shark Tank is coming to NextFab Studio in Philadelphia on Saturday, and 500 area residents will have a chance to get on the show to pitch investors for funding. “Whether you just have a fantastic idea, are a start up or already operating successfully and looking to expand, if you feel you have a lucrative business or product and could use financial backing, then Shark Tank is just the show for you,” according to the ABC show’s website. Budding entrepreneurs will have a chance to offer a one-minute pitch to a member of the show’s casting team on Saturday at NextFab Studio, at 2025 Washington Ave., and some will be selected for more in-depth video …

Speaking in Malvern last week, Gov. Tom Corbett said the state's abundant energy resources could make the commonwealth a supplier of energy instead of a purchaser.
Gov. Tom Corbett told a crowd of Chester County business and civic leaders last Thursday that the commonwealth could become energy independent in five or six years. "Right now, we're the fifth-largest energy producer in the country, but we're the second-largest energy field in the world," Corbett said. The prediction came during a discussion of economic and business issues at Chester Valley Golf Club in Malvern. Before a luncheon crowd of about 300, the governor answered questions from 6ABC reporter Nydia Han and a few pre-selected audience members. The streets of Malvern Borough will once again become the route of a bicycle race this summer. Dozens of cyclists participated in seven races last year at the Malvern criterium of the inaugural Chesco Grand Prix. The race will return to Malvern July 8, and the race route can be viewed as a PDF attached to this article. See photos from last year's race "Hopefully it won't be 105 degrees like it was last year," organizer Frank Ortner said at a meeting of the Malvern Business and Professional Association, which is sponsoring the event.
