Black Friday turns Green at the Okehocking Nature Center

Burn off some of those Thanksgiving calories with:

●Live Folk Music ●Nature Walk ●Nature-based Activities

Join the Okehocking Nature Center at their headquarters at Okehocking Preserve's Garrett Farmhouse for a post-Thanksgiving treat of live folk music, cider, sweets, nature activities and a nature walk. Local folk singer, Mike Madigan, will do a sing-a-long to some oldies and folk tunes with guitar and spoon playing (with audience participation!) along with his friend Banjo Bill. Experience "musical juggling", "the ugly stick" and Newfoundland story-telling of life in the great "Up North". A guided nature walk and activities are being planned.

The mission of Willistown’s Okehocking Nature Center is to enhance people’s relationship with nature, sense of community and knowledge of natural resource management and stewardship — thus improving their life experience and creating life-long advocates and practitioners.

Willistown Township owns the 180 acre Okehocking Preserve. The Okehocking Nature Center leases the Garrett Farmhouse from Willistown Township.

Directions: From the intersection of Goshen and Delchester Roads, turn right onto Delchester Road. Follow to the light at West Chester Pike. Turn right on West Chester Pike. The preserve entrance is on the right. Parking areas will be marked.

The event is rain or shine. Please contact Susan with questions at 610-359-0538.

Willistown Township purchased the 180 acres that comprise Okehocking Preserve with the help of a Willistown Township Open Space Fund and other preservation organizations. The preserve has entrances and parking lots both on West Chester Pike and Delchester Road. There is an unfenced off-leash dog area near the Delchester entrance. Signs throughout the park detail the administrators' preservation and reclamation efforts.
