The Chester County Historical Society Encourages Students To Attend This Year's Antiques Show

As the date of the 31^st Annual Chester County Antiques Show nears, the Chester County  Historical Society invites all to attend, and is encouraging students of architectural history to come see all that the event has to offer. College students or interested young adults can spend the day observing history and antiques in the form of beautiful furniture. Bring family and friends for a day of architectural and historical inspiration and then explore the town of Malvern.  

“Architectural Elements in Furniture” is the theme of this year’s event and it is bringing beautiful antiques from dealers around the country. Students who are studying or have an interest in architecture are encouraged to come and see how structural design influenced craftsmen  in creating fine and timeless furniture and to attend the lectures that are included in the show admission.

This year’s show, presented by PECO, which will run April 5-7, is being held at its new location, the Phelps School in Malvern. Make a day out of this event by bringing family and friends to the show, and then explore Malvern. Malvern is a pedestrian-friendly town made up of great eateries and boutiques. It is home to over 35 restaurants and shops where family and friends can enjoy lunch, dinner and shopping after a day at the Chester County Antiques Show.

Brock Jobe, Professor of American Decorative Arts at Winterthur Museum, and John Milner, Fellow of the American Institute of Architects will join us as lecturers on Saturday, April 6 at 1pm and 3pm to highlight 18^th and 19^th century furniture and how its design has been influenced by architecture.  The Preview Party, held on Friday, April 5 from 5pm to 9pm, provides an early viewing of the event’s beautiful items while enjoying fine fare and meeting the vendors, as well as the Historical Society’s Board of Trustees and other supporters. The show runs from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5 pm on Sunday.
