202 To Close Lanes Friday and Saturday

Lanes will be closed on Friday and Saturday.

The following release comes from PennDOT:

Nighttime lane closures are scheduled on U.S. Route 202 in Chester County for construction to expand the highway to six lanes in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin townships, Chester County.

PennDOT contractors are widening 6.5 miles of Route 202 between the Route 252/Swedesford Road Interchange in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Interchange in East Whiteland Township under two construction contracts totaling $168.7 million.

Southbound Route 202 will be restricted to one lane between the Route 252 (Swedesford Road) and Route 29 interchanges from 8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 18) to 8 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 19) for the placement of concrete for the new southbound pavement.  

Northbound and southbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between the Route 401 and Route 252 (Swedesford Road) interchanges from 8 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 22) to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 23) for traffic line painting. Short-term traffic stoppages may also occur Wednesday (Oct. 23) between midnight and 5 a.m.

Motorists are advised to use extra care when traveling through the construction zone and to expect slowdowns during the overnight operations. This work is weather dependent. 

The widening of Route 202 from north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Swedesford Road/Route 252 Interchange is being performed by the Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J., under a $105.4 million contract. The project is scheduled to finish in mid-2014.

Construction on Route 202 from north of Route 401 to Route 30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, is being done by Alan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County. The $63.3 million contract is scheduled to finish in 2016.
