Two overnight travel restrictions are scheduled on U.S. Route 202 in Chester County for improvements at the Route 29 and Route 401 interchanges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Friday.
From 8 p.m. Friday (April 18) to 5 a.m. Saturday (April 19), southbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane approaching the Route 29/Great Valley Interchange. The southbound right lane will be closed while crews move traffic onto new concrete pavement at the Route 29/Great Valley off-ramp.
From 8 p.m. Thursday (April 24) to 5 a.m. Friday (April 25), the Route 401 on-ramp to Route 202 South will be closed and detoured for the installation of a new drainage pipe. A posted detour will take motorists north on Route 202 to the Route 29 North/Matthews Road exit, then right on Matthews Road, right on Route 29 (Morehall Road) and right on Swedesford Road to the ramp to Route 202 South.
The work schedules are dependent on the weather.
Construction at the Route 29 Interchange is part of PennDOT’s $105.4 million project to expand four miles of Route 202 to six lanes from north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Route 252/Swedesford Road Interchange. Construction began in April 2011 and is scheduled to finish this fall. Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J. is the general contractor.
The work at the Route 401 Interchange is part of PennDOT’s $63.3 million project to widen 2.5 miles of Route 202 to six lanes between the Route 401 and Route 30 interchanges. Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which began construction in April 2013 and is scheduled to finish in May 2016.
