Chinese New Year Community Gala

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Where: Great Valley High School 225 Phoenixville Pike, Malvern
  • Why Go: Ring in the Year of the Snake with folk dances, traditional Chinese music, Peking Opera sword dance, and songs and poems.  A Culture Fair with a dozen game and craft stations and cultural displays will be open from 3 - 5 p.m.  Food and merchandise also onsite.  Hosted annually by the Main Line Chinese Culture Center.  For more info, visit www.mlccc.org or call 215-490-6074.

Love Languages

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 10 from 5 - 7 p.m.
  • Where:The Desmond Hotel
  • Why Go:The 180 Dance Company is hosting a Valentine-themed gala in the grand ballroom of Desmond Hotel. This inaugural event will feature fine hors d’oeuvres and desserts, a cash bar, a silent auction, and the world premiere of Love Languages, a ballet based on the New York Times best selling book “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman.   • Where:State Representative Duane Milne's District Office 70 Lancaster Ave, Malvern
  • Why Go:State Rep. Duane Milne is offering free flu shots in partnership with Paoli Hospital and Relative care of Downingtown. Activate chester County is accepting canned goods for the Chester County Food Bank. Please RSVP to State Rep. Milne's office at 610-251-1070.

Josiah Hibberd Scholarship Fund Auction

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.
  • Where: William Bunch Auctions and Appraisals, 1 Hillman Dr, Chadds Ford
  • Why Go: The proceeds of this auction will benefit a scholarship fund being established and administered by the Chester County Community Foundation for the benefit of Great Valley High School graduating seniors pursuing teaching careers.  The auction starts at 9 a.m. sharp, and will proceed throughout the balance of the morning and afternoon selling diverse and large collections.
