Grab & Go Planner: Golf in the Dark

Beat the chilly temps with glow-in-the-dark golf at Grand Slam USA.

Don't wait until summer for mini-golf—head to Grand Slam USA in Malvern for a family day of golf and fun. Celebrate the first Friday in January with a craft party at the Paoli Library or a night out while children enjoy a night in at The Center on Central in Paoli. Fans of the "Sunny Side Up" show can meet in person Chica and Sean at the Please Touch Museum. Roam with dinosaurs during the "Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs" at The Franklin Institute. 

Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf

  • When/Where: Grand Slam USA, 11 East Lancaster Ave., Malvern; Monday thru Thursday Noon - 9:00 p.m., Friday Noon - 10:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 
  • Why Go: Challenge the family to a nine-hole round of indoor, glow-in-the-dark golf. Players venture through the pirate-themed course filled with a pirate skeleton captain, island monkeys and much more. Suitable for walk in groups, singles and also doubles.   • Price: $6 per player. 

Parents Night Out/Kids Night In

  • When/Where: The Center on Central, 24 West Central Avenue, Paoli; Friday, January 6, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. 
  • Why Go: Children enjoy an evening of crafts, snow cones, pizza and more while parents can have dinner or see a movie without kiddos. Registration is required.   • Price: $36 for the first child then $4 for each additional child. Girl Scout special rates available. 

First Friday "Craft Party" 

  • When/Where: Paoli Library, 18 Darby Road, Paoli; Friday, January 6, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

  • Price: Free.

  • When/Where: Please Touch Museum, 4231 North Concourse Drive, Philadelphia; Thursday, January 5, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 
  • Why Go: Fans of the "The Sunny Side Up" show of the Sprout channel can meet Sean and Chica. "The Sunny Side Up" show airs weekdays from nine a.m. to noon. Visit Sprout online to watch a clip from "The Sunny Side Up" show and also learn more about other programs. 
  • Price: Members and children under one are free, children and adults $15.

Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs 

  • When/Where: The Franklin Institute, 222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia; now through April 15, exhibit hours Sunday - Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last admission 3:30 p.m.), Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. (last admission 7:00 p.m.). 
  • Why Go: Travel back into time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Dino enthusiasts will get close up views of rarely seen skeletons and fossils from the world's leading dinosaur collector and Philly area resident, Don Lessem.   • Price: Free for members, $25 adults, $18 children ages 3-11.
