Grab & Go Planner: Travel Back in Time at Paoli Battlefield

History comes alive at the Paoli Battlefield and Memorial Grounds in Malvern this weekend.

Not sure what do this weekend? With temperatures forecasted in the low 70s, head over to the Okehocking Preserve Saturday morning for a bird walk sponsored by the Valley Forge Audubon Society.  Later in the day, experience the history of the 1777 Philadelphia Revolutionary War campaign during a candle-lit tour on the trails of the Paoli Battlefield.  

  • Where/When: The Little Publisher, 324 East King Street, Malvern; every Friday in October, 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: Tiny ghosts and goblins celebrate the Halloween season with a spooky story and fun activity. For ages 2 to 12. Parents are not required to stay with children. Go to The Little Publisher website for additional information and monthly calendar. 
  • Price: $20 per child.

  • Price: $5 per person or $20 per family.

  • Where/When: Okehocking Preserve, 5316 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square; Saturday, Oct. 8, 9:00 a.m.
  • Why Go: Experience the birds of Willistown's Okehocking Preserve while enjoying the seasonal foliage. Please bring binoculars. Additional details are available at Valley Forge Audubon Society website
  • Price: Free.

Sidewalk Chalk Walk

  • Where/When: Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens, 631 Baptist Road, Devon; Monday, Oct. 10, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • Why Go: Celebrate Columbus Day with sidewalk chalk. Children will create a mural throughout the arboretum from the garden to the pond. Check in at the garden entrance. Visit the Jenkins Arboretum website for more information. 
  • Price: Free. No pre-registration necessary.

$15 Fun Days at Adventure Aquarium

  • Where/When: Adventure Aquarium, 1 Aquarium Drive, Camden, NJ; now through November 23.
