Malvern Farmers Market Unites Healthy Producers, Consumers

Prepare to feast your eyes upon the concoctions of local farmers and other vendors.

Salted caramel cupcakes, sunset-colored peaches, European chocolates and home-brewed hard cider are just some of the delectable finds at the Malvern Farmer's Market.

On Saturday, the elegant chords of a harpist entranced perusing crowds as business owners, farmers and vendors set up shop in Burke Park to sell the products that they grew, baked or otherwise created. The various tents had origins in towns including Media, West Chester, Boyertown and Downingtown among other nearby locations.

Many of the food options were advertised with key words including "all natural" or "organic," thus attracting a fairly health-conscious crowd.

"I like educating people on the benefit of healthy alternatives," said Sandra Ostrander, owner of MomPops, a business that sells popsicles chock full of fresh fruits, agave and coconut milk. "People want garbage."

Vendors at the market included MomPops of West Chester, John & Kira's Chocolates, Canter Hill Farm, Laura's Biscottis, Dia Doce Cupcakes and Greener Partners.

Malvern Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Malvern's Burke Park.
