SEPTA Threatening To Cut Malvern Rail Service

11 regional rail lines could be impacted if additional money can't be raised.

SEPTA is forecasting a significant reduction in its services, including a truncation of the Malvern regional rail line, if it can’t meet its funding goals within the coming years.

The Paoli/Thorndale Line is one of 11 regional rail lines that could be reduced or outright discontinued if the transportation agency can’t raise $6.5 billion in additional funds, according to a report from PlanPhilly.

According to the “worst case scenario” plan SEPTA unveiled on Thursday, the Paoli/Thorndale line would be augmented, cutting off all stops after Malvern and making the borough the last stop on the regional line.
