Living Stations of the Cross

Students from Malvern Prep and Villa Maria Academy will be performing the annual Living Stations of the Cross on Sunday, April 1 at 3:00 p.m. in the Duffy Arts Center. Students will also perform the Living Stations for their fellow students on Wednesday, April 4.

The Living Stations performance has become a Palm Sunday tradition at Malvern, featuring a contemporary staging of the Stations of the Cross with students portraying the events leading up to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The lyrics from modern music, performed by the Malvern Liturgical Music Group, act as narrator of the events.  Michael Pund '12 stars as Jesus, with P.J. Finley '12 as Pontius Pilate, John Oakley '12 as Simon, Connor Mahoney '12, Eddie Morris '12, Dave Zarkoski '12 and Graeme Weaver '12 as guards, Doug Mulhern '12 and Pat Boyle '12 as Apostles. Joining them in the cast are Villa Maria Academy students Amanda Churchvara, Emily Oulton, Brenna Donato, Beth Egan, Ellen Wilson, Caroline Earnest, Caitlin McCallister, Kayleigh Rozwat and Anna Landau-Smith.

Among the songs performed in the show are "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton, "Goodbye Blue Sky" by Pink Floyd, "Renegade" (featuring soloist Sean Irvine ’13) by Styx, "Mary" (featuring Kyle Naser ’12) by Scissor Sisters, "In Your Eyes" (featuring Alex Tran ’13) by Peter Gabriel, "Streets of Philadelphia"  (featuring Chris Tiberi ’12) by Bruce Springsteen, "Philadelphia" (featuring Joe Canuso ’14) by Neil Young, and "Believe" (featuring Matt Griswold ’12) by Lenny Kravitz.
