Get Out: Memorial Day Parade, Ice Cream Social, and Live Music

June 2-5, 2011, edition.

Not sure what to do after a long week at work?  The Malvern area has plenty of events scheduled for the weekend: celebrate the troops at the Memorial Day Parade, volunteer at the Willistown Conservation Trust, or participate in a community ice cream social or 5K run. As always, night owls have an opportunity to enjoy late-night drinks and live music at Cedar Hollow Inn.

 

  • Where/When: , June 5, 1:30pm.
  • Why Go: The Upper Main Line Memorial Association will sponsor this year’s Memorial Day parade in honor of the troops. The parade will feature floats, decorated bikes, fire trucks and cars.  A Family Fun Day will precede and follow the parade in Memorial Park.   • Where/When: Wayne Avenue & Monument Avenue, June 5, 9:00am.
  • Why Go: This 5K course is a challenging race through the beautiful grass area Paoli Memorial grounds. Kids 12 and under are invited to participate in the Kids Fun Run and 8:45am. Registration begins at 8:00am.

  • Where/When: , June 3, 6:30pm - 9:00pm.
  • Why Go: Enjoy the nice weather with members of the Malvern community in one the area’s most beautiful parks.

  • Why Go: Cedar Hollow Inn offers a late-night menu and drink specials, offer a 18oz Prime Rib Special on Saturdays. This week's performer, J.D. Family Volunteer Day at Rushton Farm 

  • Where/When: Delchester Road and Goshen Road, Newtown Square, June 4, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring the whole family to enjoy the great weather and fresh air, and help the community’s largest organic farm. The Willistown Conservation Trust is an organization dedicated to land protection and conservation, and Rushton Farm doesn’t use any persticides or herbicides.
