Get Out: Piano Festival and Green Earth Day

Aug. 5 - 7, 2011, edition.

Not sure what to get into after a long week? Music aficionados can check out the West Chester piano festival, or stop by Wegmans for TGIF with live music. The Phoenixville Green Earth Festival is a great opportunity to learn more about sustainable farming and living, and history buffs can check out the exhibits at the Chester County Historical Society.

 

  • Where/When: 103 Woodcutter Street, Exton, August 6, 11:00am - 4:00pm
  • Why Go:  Wendell August is one of America’s oldest manufacturers of handmade ornaments and giftware. This event will feature plenty of activities, and free food and refreshments as well.   • Why Go:  This event is the premier for a new international piano festival that includes master classes, performances, workshops, and seminars. Visit the event website for a complete schedule of events.

  • Where/When: Phoenixville Framers’ Market, Taylor Aly & Mill Street, Phoenixville, August 6, 9:00am - 2:00pm.
  • Why Go:  The second annual Green Earth Festival is an outdoor event that features live music, food, and guest speakers. Learn about natural and sustainable lifestyles, and abut the local business that support organic farming. Visit the event website for more information.

  • Where/When: Chester County Historical Society, 225 N. High Street, West Chester, August 5, 10:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Why Go:  Chester County Historical Society features interactive exhibits, history labs, photos, and newspapers that date back to the days of Benjamin Franklin. First Fridays are free admission.  Visit the Historical Society website for more information.

TGIF at Wegmans 

  • Where/When: Malvern Wegmans, 50 Foundry Way, August 5, 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
  • Why Go: Every Friday, Wegmans offers live music and a cafe menu with selections including pizza, subs, Asian food and burritos.
