Grab & Go Planner: Art Workshops and 'Tangled' Outdoors

July 21-27, 2011, edition.

This weekend, spend some time on local educational programs for children: both the Brandywine River Museum and Myrick Conservation Center are offering classes for nature explorers and enthusiasts. As always, Malvern Library is hosting Storytime and Game night for younger children. And for those who would prefer relaxing under the stars, Caln Township is having movies in the park.

 

  • Where/When: , July 27, 9:30am - 5pm
  • Why Go: Reading is fundamental, so come join in on the fun!  Reading times are 9:30am for children age 2 + adult, 10:30am & 1:30pm for children age 3-K, and 4pm for babies-23 months + adult.
  • Price: Free.

  • Where/When: , July 21, 11am - 2pm.
  • Why Go: Game time is a way for kids to get together with their friends over the summer and enjoy an afternoon of playing with Rubik’s cubes and legos.  Game times are 11am-noon for grades 1-2, and 1-2pm for grades 3-5.
  • Price: Free, but registration is required.  Call 610-644-7259 to register.
  • Where/When: Myrick Conservation Center, 1760 Unionville-Wawaset Road, West Chester, July 21, 5:30 - 7pm.
  • Why Go: Third Thursdays is a Myrick Conservation Center program for nature lovers. Enjoy the warm summer weather and head outdoors with the family. For more information about the Myrick Conservation Center, visit the website.
  • Price: $7.

Movies in the Park: Tangled

  • Where/When: Caln Municipal Building, 253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale, July 22, 7:30 - 9pm
  • Why Go: Caln Township offers fun, family-friendly movie viewing events throughout the summer. Free lawn chairs are available, and movies begin at dusk.
  • Price: Free.

  • Why Go:  Advanced Explorer Mornings are art workshops designed for children ages 10 to 14. This week’s theme is “Putting it into Perspective.”
