Grab & Go Planner: Star Party and County Fair

Sept. 1 - 7, 2011, edition.

This week brings a ton of exciting events for the family to enjoy—spend an afternoon volunteering at Rushton Farm, build a Game Day Board at Home Depot, or check out the exhibits at the Brandywine River Museum.

The Star Party at Marsh Creek is an opportunity to star gaze with members of the Chesmont Astronomical Society. Horse lovers can check out Ludwig’s Horse Show and County Fair in Glenmoore, about 30 minutes from Malvern, for an afternoon of games, demonstrations, hayrides and more.

  • Where/When: 675 Park Road, Downingtown, Sept. 3, 7:30pm.
  •  Why Go: Join the Chesmont Astronomical Society for a night of star gazing, and observe the night sky through telescopes and live astronomical video cameras. This event is for adults and children 5 years and older.
  •  Price: Free.

Family Volunteer Day at Rushton Farm

  • Where/When: Rushton Farm, 1050 Delchester Road, Sept. 3, 11:00am - 3:00pm.
  • Why Go: Rushton Farm is Willistown Conservation Trust’s organic, pesticide and herbicide-free farm. Take the whole family out for a day of fresh air and gardening. For more information about Willistown Conservation Trust, visit the organization’s website 
  • Price: Free.

Home Depot’s Kids Workshop

  • Where/When: 609 Lancaster Pike, Frazer, or any other Home Depot, Sept. 3, 9:00am - noon.
  • Why Go: The Home Depot Kids’ workshops give children a chance to learn the basics of building, painting and tool safety.  This Saturday, the kids will be building an ESPN College Game Day Board. 

Ludwig’s Horse Show and County Fair 

  • Where/When: 1325 Pottstown Pike, Glenmoore, Sept. 3 - 5.
  • Why Go: Ludwig’s Horse Show and County Fair is a three-day event that is packed with fun activities for the whole family. The schedule includes pony club demonstrations, a car show, a children’s game tent, free hayrides and more. Check out the event website for more information and a complete schedule.
  • Price: $7 for adults, $3 for children.

Free Admission at the Brandywine River Museum

  • Where/When: Brandywine River Museum, Sept. 4, 9:30am - 12:00pm. 
  • Why Go:  The Brandywine River Museum offers free admission for the whole family on Sunday mornings. The museum offers a variety of exhibits, including works by Howard Pyle and Andrew Wyeth. 
  • Price: Free.
