Malvern's M. Night Shyamalan Gets TV Series Deal

The Main Line native, known mainly for films, tweeted that Fox had greenlit 'Wayward Pines.'

Renowned Philadelphia-area director and producer M. Night Shyamalan announced via Twitter that the Fox network had ordered 10 episodes of his "Wayward Pines" television series.

Shyamalan tweeted, "It was just announced that my TV series got greenlit! It's called #WaywardPines. Ten episodes on #Fox. Matt Dillion is starring. SO FUN!"

The show is set to debut in 2014, with Dillon playing a Secret Service man looking for two missing federal agents in the titular Idaho town, Deadline.com reported.

A Malvern resident and former Gladwyne neighbor of ex-Philadelphia 76er Allen Iverson, Shyamalan is best known for big-screen thrillers such as "The Sixth Sense," starring Bruce Willis, and "Signs" with Mel Gibson. His sci-fi film "After Earth," starring Will and Jaden Smith, comes out May 31.
