No Joke: 'Mighty Macs' Movie to Open April 1

Immaculata University anticipates the release of film based on their 1972 all-female basketball champions.

The Mighty Macs, based on the story of the 1972 Immaculata University basketball team, has announced its official spring release. The motion picture is planned to be in theaters Friday, April 1, to coincide with the aftermath of March Madness nationwide.

The movie was filmed on the university campus during the summer of 2008. Shots of the school, located off of King Road in East Whiteland, will be familiar to residents and alumni. Additionally, West Chester University basketball courts were used in the filming due to their more older look.

The Mighty Macs stars Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Spy Kids) as the inspirational coach Cathy Rush and Malvern-raised David Boreanaz (BonesAngel) as her husband, Ed Rush. As the release of the film approaches, the university will continue to announce updates via its website and Facebook page.
