Assisted Living Facility Coming to West Chester Pike

Originally slated to be Alliance Bank office space, the property will instead be home to an assisted living facility.

Have you noticed construction signs and equipment near the Hunter's Run neighborhood on Route 3? A small fence has been constructed and a driveway is complete, but where will it lead?

Alliance Bank had purchased the property at 1713-1721 West Chester Pike, on the north side of the highway just before the Westtown border, with plans to build offices there. But plans changed, and Alliance decided to sell the lot to Formation-Shelbourne Senior Living Services, who will build an 85-unit assisted living center on the site.

The Willistown Board of Supervisors at its April 23 meeting approved a land development application for Shelbourne's project.

Shelbourne owns more than 180 senior living communities in the United States and Canada, according to the company's website, "with an aggregate value of over $2.7 billion." The communities include:

  • Assisted living and Alzheimer's care communities
  • Independent living communities
  • High-rise luxury condominiums
  • Hospitals, healthcare facilities and medical offices
  • Renovations and expansions

According to an email from Willistown Township planning director Rita Reves, "There is no projected date for completion but I am certain that Shelbourne will be anxious to get started as soon as all the permits are secured and everything is in order."
