Lukoil in Great Valley Opts Out of Price-Hike Protest

Many Lukoil stations raised prices to protest the company's pricing policy, but not the local one.

Dozens of Lukoil gas stations in the region  and above Wednesday to protest the Russian oil company's pricing policy.

The at the intersection of Route 29 and East Swedesford Road was not among them. The photo above, taken around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, shows prices hovering around $4, similar to the Sunoco across the street.

The protesting franchisees say the price increase was to call attention to Lukoil's unfair prices. As one :

" is selling a gallon for $3.87 today, and my cost is $3.94," said Ali, computing that he'd have to sell the gasoline at a seven-cent loss just to match Sunoco. "But if I want to add my ten cents, then I'm way off the competition."
