Movie Theater Moves Closer to Closure

A recent zoning change will allow a car dealership to open at the location of East Whiteland's United Artists theater.

East Whiteland's lone movie theater moved one step closer to closure last week, as the township supervisors approved a zoning change that will allow a car dealership to open on the property.

Devon Automotive Group requested that three parcels currently occupied by United Artists East Whiteland Stadium 9 be changed from Village Mixed Use (VMX) to Frontage Commercial (FC) zoning classification.

The board of supervisors approved the change in a public hearing held Dec. 12. According to Township Manager Terry Woodman, the automotive group plans to open a Toyota dealership at the site.
