Business Picking Up at Malvern Exxon Station

The station reopened in February under new management, after being closed for months amid rumors of illegal activity.

Malvern Borough once again has an operating gas station.

"Business is not really fast, but it's slowly picking up," said Samuel Ramanjulu, the co-owner of the new Exxon station near the corner of King Street and Powelton Avenue.

The Exxon station, which re-opened Feb. 8, was closed for nine or 10 months before coming under new ownership.

"The previous owners used to sell drugs here," Ramanjulu said. "That's why it was closed."

Residents had heard of illegal activity at the station before it closed last year, but Malvern Police said in August 2011 that the former owners shut it down for other reasons.

Now under new management, the gas station and minimart is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
