CV Trail Updates: $500K Grant, Section Closed, Construction Timeline

The Chester Valley Trail should reach the Schuylkill River Trail in Montgomery County by late 2013, according to the trail's Friends group.

There have been a few developments regarding Chester Valley Trail lately. Here's a quick roundup:

Segment closed

On Facebook, the Friends of the Chester Valley Trail announced the undeveloped stretch of trail from Ship Road to Church Farm Road is temporarily closed during construction.

Timeline, details for Phases 2 and 3

In a separate Facebook post, the Friends group recapped its March 20 meeting. Regarding Phase 2, which will run from Route 29 to Warner Road in King of Prussia:

Construction is scheduled to start April 1 with a scheduled completion date of November 17, 2013.  Though there is no set schedule for the Montgonery County section that will connect to the Schuylkill River Trail, Montgomery County is planning to complete ther section by the fall of 2013.

Phase 3, Church Farm Road to Exton Main Street is slated to begin soon with the completion some time in 2013.

The Exton Park Trailhead has a scheduled completion date of May 2012.  There will be parking for 43 cars, rest rooms and other ammenities.  Note, the Chester Valley Trail between Ship Road and Church Fark Road is closed for constructions.

The Friends' will be held May 15, 7 p.m., at the East Whiteland Township Building.

Half-million in grant funds

State Sen. Andrew Dinniman announced $500,000 in state funding to build a 1.2-mile section of the Chester Valley Trail, the walking and bicycling path between Exton and Montgomery County that is progressing swiftly toward completion.  

This latest funding comes from Pennsylvania’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program and specifically will be used to extend the trail from its Exton Park site trailhead westward to Iron Lake Boulevard in West Whiteland, Dinniman said.
