Golf Course Divers Agree to Reduced Charges, Fines

The four Michigan residents used scuba equipment to retrieve thousands of golf balls from White Manor and Aronimink golf courses.

EAST GOSHEN–Four Michigan residents who were arrested in April after pleaded guilty to reduced charges Wednesday morning.

At a preliminary hearing before Judge Chester Darlington in District Court 15-2-05, the prosecutor explained that each defendant had agreed to plead guilty to summary offenses if the original misdemeanor charges were dropped.

The three men—Daniel P. Curry, 31, Charles D. Creed IV, 26, Robert D. Sauve III, 28—and one woman—Carisa N. Osmond, 23—all of Saginaw, MI, were originally charged with theft, receiving stolen property and defiant trespass. On April 18, found them parked near on St. David's Road in the pre-dawn hours, with diving equipment and approximately 8,000 golf balls. Some of the balls were from White Manor Country Club water hazards, where they'd been earlier in the morning.

Osmond, 23, who was represented by a public defender, plead guilty to a summary charge of disorderly conduct, agreeing to pay a $100 fine and court costs. The three men, each representing himself in court, plead guilty to summary charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing. Each agreed to the maximum fines, equaling $600 per man, but no jail time. Darlington ordered them to pay the same day, due to their out-of-state residence.
