GVSD Board Approves Personnel Shuffle

Two new assistant superintendents, a new high school principal, and plenty of other changes were approved by the school board.

The Great Valley School Board to approve a partial reorganization of the district's adminstration. According to superintendent Alan Lonoconus, the changes will save the district $150,000 annually.

Among the changes are the installation of a new high school principal, and the alteration of roles in the .

The chart makes shifts to the administrative reporting structure and reassigns duties to new or modified positions. Specific changes to the administrative structure include:

  • the split of the assistant superintendent’s position into two positions: assistant superintendent for administrative services and elementary education, and assistant superintendent for secondary education and pupil services;
  • elimination of director of personnel;
  • elimination of secondary supervisor for teaching and learning;
  • elimination of data achievement supervisor;
  • creation of new position: director of technology, accountability, and enrichment programs.

Members of the current administrative team were appointed to the new positions within the organization chart as follows:

  • assistant superintendent for administrative services and elementary education: Dr. Robin Koslo-Stahl (previously director of personnel);
  • assistant superintendent for secondary education and pupil services: Dr. Daniel Goffredo (previously principal of Great Valley High School);
  • director of technology, accountability, and enrichment programs: Stephen O’Toole (previously data achievement supervisor).

The Board also approved the appointment of personnel to fill positions open as a result of the above reassignments:

  • Great Valley High school principal: Michael Flick (previously assistant principal at Great Valley High School);
  • Great Valley High School assistant principal for instruction: Heidi Capetola (previously secondary supervisor of teaching and learning).

“These changes to the administrative organizational chart reflect our need to restructure our team in a way that ensures efficiency,” said Superintendent Alan Lonoconus. “By combining some responsibilities and also splitting others, we will be better prepared to address the many needs of our district. I have the highest confidence in the people chosen for each role and I look forward to the good work we will do together.”

According to Lonoconus, the restructuring also saves the district approximately $150,000 in costs associated with salaries and benefits.

In addition to changes associated with the administrative organizational chart, the Board also approved the resignation of Great Valley Middle School Assistant Principal Kyle Hammond. That position remains open and will be filled.
