Heavy Rainfall, 'Copious Lightning' Possible Friday Afternoon and Night

Severe weather advisories are in effect until Friday night.

The Malvern area could experience significant thunderstorms and flash flooding, according to advisories issued by the National Weather Service. The severe weather could affect much of Pennsylvania.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday. The Flash Flood Watch is in effect through late Friday night. According to the National Weather Service:

Numerous showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rain in a short period of time today and tonight... mainly this afternoon into early tonight... and [it] may cause flooding.

In addition... the storm prediction center has placed the area in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms today and tonight.
