Irene's Swath of Slight Damage

The impact on Malvern was less than feared.

Tropical Storm Irene, nee Hurricane Irene, has left the Malvern area. The storm was less damaging than predicted.

About three-quarters of Malvern Borough lost power Saturday night to Sunday morning, according to Kenny Furlong, part of the Public Works crew. Most residents' power was restored by midday Sunday. In Willistown, lights were out along Route 3, Delchester Road was reportedly blocked off, and a reader reported downed wires on Grubbs Mill Road off Goshen Road.

As of 3 p.m. Sunday, there were a few street lights out and fallen trees, but most power had been restored and closed roads reopened.
