Nighttime Route 202 Lane Closures Aug. 14-20

The East Whiteland portion of the highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

PennDOT will again close lanes on Route 202 this week in East Whiteland Township. The PennDOT information is below, but this is also a good space for a reminder that Route 401 (Conestoga Road) north of Route 30 through September.

From PennDOT:

Motorists on northbound and southbound US Route 202 in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin townships, Chester County will encounter nighttime lane closures [Aug. 14-20] between the Route 401 and Chesterbrook interchanges for road construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one in each direction on Sunday through Thursday (Aug. 14-18) from 8 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the following morning for concrete barrier placement, line painting and installation of overhead sign structures. The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent. In the event that inclement weather postpones construction one night, the contractor will work Saturday, Aug. 20 from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Similar overhead sign structures, part of the project’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components, also will be placed on Route 100 and Route 30 approaching Route 202 next week.  Motorists on those roads in the vicinity of Route 202 also will encounter lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday (Aug. 14-18).

PennDOT’s contractor is rebuilding Route 202’s southbound right shoulder and median to prepare the southbound side of highway to carry two lanes of southbound and northbound traffic starting later this year. [...]
