PA Turnpike to Close Sunday Morning Between Valley Forge and Downingtown

Shut down will allow for work on the Mill Road bridge in Tredyffrin Township.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike will be completely shut down in the early morning hours on Sunday, August 7 between the Valley Forge (Exit 326) and Downingtown (Exit 312) interchanges. The shutdown is scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. The turnpike is expected to be re-opened to traffic by 6 a.m. Sunday.

Construction crews will be installing beams on the bridge that carries Mill Road over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Tredyffrin Township.

All westbound traffic will have to exit at Valley Forge. The detour will take motorists from the Turnpike to I-76 west to Route 202 south to Route 30 west, to Route 100 north, and back onto the westbound turnpike at Downingtown toward Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.

Eastbound turnpike traffic will exit at Downingtown and follow the reverse of the westbound detour. Eastbound drivers will be able to get back on the turnpike at Valley Forge toward Philadelphia and New Jersey.

Traffic on the turnpike will be shifted in the evening hours on Saturday before the total shutdown. If you're planning on driving on the turnpike Saturday night between 8 p.m. and midnight expect major delays as crews bring in heavy equipment and prepare for the bridge work.
