PennDOT: Whitehorse Road Bridge Closed in Willistown

Inspectors discovered severe undermining beneath one of the bridge's stone support abutments

From PennDOT:

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation this afternoon closed the Whitehorse Road bridge over Crum Creek in Willistown Township, Chester County due to structural damage caused by recent heavy rainstorms.

PennDOT closed the bridge after an inspection [Saturday] discovered severe undermining beneath one of the bridge's stone support abutments. The bridge is located between the intersections of Whitehorse Lane and Fox Chase Road. The bridge will remain closed until future repairs are made to reinforce the foundation beneath the abutment.
