View the Great Valley from Immaculata's Dome

The dome above the rotunda at Immaculata University is visible for miles.

The dome atop Villa Maria Hall at Immaculata University is visible from miles away, overlooking a large swath of the Great Valley.

The university last week allowed Malvern Patch to go up and take some photos from the deck of the dome. View the photos in the attached media gallery and see if you can recognize familiar landmarks, like Great Valley High School.

The Fall 2005 issue of Immaculata Magazine provides some background on the dome and the building below (PDF):

Villa Maria Hall completed in 1914 is the original building ofthe college, now housing administrative offices and residence halls. Designed by architects Ballinger and Perrot, Villa Maria is a modern adaptation of Italian Renaissance style. The three-story Rotunda features Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian Greek columns. Above the majestic dome stands a statue of Mary, the Blessed Mother, for which this building is named.
