PennDOT’s contractor rebuilt the ramp over the past four months as part of the $105 million project to widen four miles of Route 202 from four lanes to six from just south of the Chesterbrook Boulevard Interchange to just north of the Route 401 Interchange in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships.

Crews will work from 8 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. tomorrow to relocate concrete barriers in conjunction with the ramp reopening.  This overnight operation will restrict northbound Route 202 to one lane in the area of the Route 29 Interchange.

PennDOT is expanding 6.5 miles of Route 202 from just south of the Chesterbrook Interchange to the Route 30 Interchange under two construction contracts to enhance travel and reduce congestion. The second contract, which runs from just north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Route 30 Interchange, is scheduled to start construction in 2013.

Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J. is the general contractor on the first mainline construction project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
