Route 3 Restrictions Could Last Until December

The section of West Chester Pike in southern Willistown has been reduced from four lanes to two just east of Route 926.

Motorists on West Chester Pike (Route 3) have been spending a bit more time between Route 926 and Delchester Road lately.

The four-lane highway has been reduced to one lane in each direction as PennDOT crews work to replace four deteriorated expansion joints on the bridge over Ridley Creek.

According to PennDOT spokesman Gene Blaum, the work began Sept. 19 and will continue through December, although it might be completed early. The bridge maintenance is part of a $2.5M project to improve 10 bridges in the Philadelphia area. PennDOT contracted the work out to Philadelphia-based James J. Anderson Construction Company.
