Sunken Manhole To Close South Malvern Hunt Way

East Whiteland Township will close the road Jan. 17-20 to fix a sewer manhole in Malvern Hunt that has fallen a few inches.

Malvern Hunt residents have already seen the electronic sign giving notice of a detour starting Tuesday. Its alternating messages:

January 17 thru 20 Day N Night
Use Old Valley Road

"East Whiteland is in the process of investigating why a sanitary sewer manhole in Malvern Hunt Road has sunk by a few inches and once we discover the cause, we will fix it to bring the manhole up to level," township manager Terry Woodman explained in an email.

The Malvern Hunt HOA has more details about how to get around during the closure:

All traffic from the Reserve section of Malvern Hunt will need to exit the development via Old Valley Road. Corbin Drive will also be closed at the intersection of Malvern Hunt Way/Granville Way and all traffic will need to exit at Swedesford Road. [...]

The Township will maintain Granville Way traffic in and out. There will be no through traffic on South Malvern Hunt Way from January 17-20 between Regency Court and Corbin Drive. The Township will try to maintain traffic on North Malvern Hunt Way throughout their repair, however there may be delayed traffic beyond Granville Way.

According to the HOA, work crews will assist Great Valley school buses through the work zones.
