Valley Forge Park Will Close If Government Shuts Down

The National Historical Park will be off-limits to visitors, according to the visitor center.

If the US Congress can't pass a budget or a continuing resolution by Friday, Valley Forge National Historical Park will close to the public.

The gates will close at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, according to the park's visitor center staff. The two main traffic arteries running through the park, Route 23 and Route 252, will remain open.

Military pay, Social Security checks, and federal law enforcement would be affected by a shutdown. Mail delivery and air traffic control would continue as normal. The Associated Press compiled a detailed explanation of what other services would be affected.
